HARTFORD — SEIU 1199NE remains committed to the broader vision of building a Connecticut that works for all—not just the ultra-wealthy. That means lifting the fiscal guardrails, increasing Medicaid reimbursement rates, and fully funding our public schools, housing programs, and institutions of higher education.
Our members are not only caregivers—they are parents and community members whose families rely on Connecticut’s public services. Their children attend public schools supported by paraprofessionals, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and teachers. Many attend community colleges and state universities that are in urgent need of investment.
We are encouraged that Governor Lamont and the Leaders of the Connecticut General Assembly ultimately recognized the value of this workforce and acted to support it. The agreement our members secured is not a luxury—it is a necessary and long-overdue correction to years of underinvestment in long-term care. A healthy and inclusive economy must begin by honoring and investing in the people who care for our most vulnerable.
SEIU 1199NE stands in full solidarity with every movement fighting for a more just, more caring Connecticut. Together, we can—and must—get this right.
